About the fishing here

Boren lies between Motala in the west and Borensberg in the east, covers 27 square kilometres and is 13 metres deep at most. All the water leaving Vättern flows in here, and the lake is both a part of the Göta canal and a part of Motala ström, with the Borenshult locks at the western end. That through-flow keeps the water fresh and the lake produces an estimated 15 to 20 kilos of fish per hectare a year. Big pike and perch are what Boren is known for, with zander, roach and bream alongside, and the red-listed asp lives in the system. In winter it is a popular lake for skating.
