About the fishing here
The Ljusnan runs 443 kilometres from the mountains at Funäsdalen through Härjedalen and Hälsingland down to the sea at Ljusne, and fly fishing is a big deal along the whole river. The flowing stretches hold trout and grayling, with big pike and perch in the calm reaches, and the weeks around midsummer often count as the best of the season. The river is developed for hydropower, so the flow can shift quickly below the dams, stay alert when wading.
Popular catches here include Northern Pike, Brown Trout, Whitefish, European Perch, Roach and Grayling.
Northern Pike is generally most active around Apr-May, Sep-Oct. The best windows are usually dawn and dusk.
A fishing permit (fiskekort) is required here. Napp ranks the species above from the live weather, water temperature, season and time of day, so the order changes through the day.
