About the fishing here

The Indal river is one of Sweden's most water-rich rivers, 430 kilometres from the Jämtland mountains through Storsjön down to the Gulf of Bothnia northeast of Sundsvall, with a mean flow of about 455 cubic metres per second. It is heavily developed, with 38 power stations in the catchment, and the fishing splits accordingly: big salmon and sea trout below Bergeforsen nearest the sea, wild trout and grayling on the unregulated upper stretches in Jämtland, and pike, perch and burbot in the slow water between. Sweden's largest coastal delta sits at the mouth as a nature reserve. The flow is run by the power stations, so the water can change fast.

Popular catches here include Northern Pike, Brown Trout, Whitefish, Atlantic Salmon, European Perch and Grayling.

Northern Pike fishing is usually best around Apr-May, Sep-Oct. The best windows are usually dawn and dusk.

A fishing permit (fiskekort) is required here. Napp ranks the species above from the live weather, water temperature, season and time of day, so the order changes through the day.
