The Ångerman river is 463 kilometres long and one of Sweden's most water-rich rivers, with a mean flow of about 500 cubic metres per second at the mouth, where the High Coast Bridge spans the wide estuary. After the Lule river it is the country's second largest supplier of hydropower, and the big rapids Nämforsen, Moforsen and Forsmoforsen are all developed. The fishing is good anyway: salmon and sea trout in and downstream of Sollefteå, grayling and trout in the currents above, and pike, perch, whitefish and burbot in the calmer stretches. The flow is regulated, so read it before you settle on a spot.
