Sea Trout fishing

Salmo trutta trutta

About Sea Trout

Sea-running trout fished from the coast year-round, best in the cool seasons. It hunts shrimp, worms and small fish over shallow reef, weed and sand, often within a rod length of where you are standing. Spring and autumn, with the water somewhere between four and twelve degrees, put the most fish inside casting range. Wade slowly, cover the close water first, and work a coastal spoon or a shrimp fly with long pauses.

Typical size: Usually 40-70 cm. Record (approx.): ≈ 15 kg.

Spoon Cast out and retrieve at a steady pace so the spoon flashes and wobbles. Vary the speed and let it flutter down between turns. Check price on Amazon
Fly Present the fly on a fly line, dry on top or wet below. Mend the line, stay in contact and strike on the light take. Check price on Amazon
Crankbait Retrieve so the plug dives and wobbles. Add pauses and twitches to trigger strikes, or troll it behind the boat. Check price on Amazon
