About Tigerfish
A widespread Nile and West African tigerfish, an aggressive toothy hunter of large rivers, lakes and floodplains across the region. It chases baitfish in open water and along current edges, smashing spinners, spoons, fly and live bait, best in warmer months. Like its southern cousin it has a hard bony mouth, so set the hook firmly and always fish a wire trace.
Typical size: Typically 1 to 5 kg; trophy fish over 8 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 9 kg (varies by region).
