A schooling drum of the South American Atlantic coast, common in surf, estuaries and along the Rio de la Plata, feeding on small fish and shrimp. It responds well to soft plastics, spoons and cut bait worked near the bottom, often in better numbers around dawn and dusk. As the name suggests it has a soft mouth, so do not horse it and keep steady pressure to avoid pulled hooks.
