Siberian Taimen fishing
About Siberian Taimen
The Siberian taimen is the largest member of the salmon family, an apex river predator of remote Siberian and Mongolian rivers. It will hammer huge surface mouse flies and big streamers, and even attacks swimming rodents and birds at the surface. It is long-lived, slow-growing and fragile, so strict catch-and-release with barbless hooks is essential to its survival.
Typical size: Commonly 5 to 25 kg; trophy fish over 40 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 50 kg (varies by region).
