About Redtail Catfish
The redtail catfish is a huge, striking Amazonian catfish with a black back, white belly and bright orange-red tail. It is a powerful bottom predator that swallows large dead baits, fish chunks and live bait fished on heavy gear in deep river holes. Now widely stocked in fishing parks across Thailand, it gives long, slow, bruising fights.
Typical size: Commonly 10 to 40 kg; trophy fish over 60 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 80 kg (varies by water).
