About Pacu
The pacu is a deep-bodied relative of the piranha that feeds largely on fruit, seeds and nuts dropping into the water. Anglers fish for them under fruiting trees and along flooded forest edges, using nuts, fruit or corn on stout hooks. They pull hard and dogged, fighting more like a big carp than a predator.
Typical size: Commonly 3 to 10 kg; trophy fish over 15 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 20 kg (varies by region).
