About Nile Perch

The Nile perch is one of Africa's largest freshwater gamefish, a powerful predator that grows to enormous sizes in Lake Victoria and the Nile basin. It smashes large lures, live bait and trolled plugs, and runs hard once hooked. Fish deep structure and current seams during the day and shallower margins at dawn and dusk.

Typical size: Commonly 5 to 30 kg; trophy fish top 80 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 230 kg (rod-and-line, varies by water).
