An eel-like African lungfish that breathes air and can survive drought buried in mud, the marbled lungfish lurks in muddy lakes, swamps and slow rivers. It is a slow, powerful bottom feeder that takes worms, fish and other bottom baits, so heavy bottom rigs fished in soft, weedy margins are the approach. Handle it carefully, as it has crushing tooth plates and a thick, slippery body.
