About Leopard Grouper
A handsome Red Sea reef grouper studded with small spots, the leopard grouper ambushes fish and crustaceans from caves, ledges and coral heads. It hits jigs, live bait and bottom-fished cut bait hard, then dives straight back to its hole, so strong gear and quick pressure are vital. Fish tight to structure on reef drop-offs and pinnacles.
Typical size: Commonly 40 to 70 cm; trophies over 90 cm. Record (approx.): approx. 14 kg (varies by region).
