About Lebranche Mullet
This large South American mullet schools along surf beaches, estuaries and the lower reaches of rivers, grazing on algae and organic matter from the bottom. It is mostly netted commercially but takes small baits and even flies, and its huge migrating shoals draw big predators inshore. For anglers it is both a light-tackle target and a prime live or cut bait for snook and other gamefish.
Typical size: Commonly 30 to 50 cm; large fish to about 80 cm. Record (approx.): approx. 5 kg (varies by region).
