South Africa's largest yellowfish is a powerful predatory carp of the Orange and Vaal river systems, prized as a hard-fighting fly and lure target. Unlike its smaller relatives it hunts other fish, so streamers, spinners and small crankbaits worked near rocky structure and deeper runs draw the best strikes. It is a slow-growing species, so most anglers practise catch-and-release.
