About Kob
The silver kob is a cornerstone surf and estuary gamefish of southern African coasts, hunting baitfish and squid along sandy beaches, gullies and reefs. It is a structure-oriented predator that responds well to live bait, fresh cut bait and lures fished into the wash, especially around dawn, dusk and a working tide. Bigger fish often hold in deeper gullies and around backline reefs.
Typical size: Commonly 50 to 90 cm; trophies over 1.2 m and 25 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 70 kg (varies by region).
