A southern Australian favourite, the King George whiting is a prized table fish that feeds over seagrass meadows and sandy patches on worms, shellfish and small crustaceans. It bites delicately, so light running-sinker rigs with small hooks and baits like pipi, squid or worm fished on the drift work best. Look for them over broken bottom in cleaner water on a moving tide.
