Jullien's Golden Carp fishing

Probarbus jullieni

About Jullien's Golden Carp

A large, golden-flanked migratory carp of the Mekong and Chao Phraya basins, this is a sought-after and now rare river giant. It feeds on plant matter, molluscs and insects over deep channels and runs strongly when hooked on bottom baits. It is endangered in the wild, so most legitimate angling happens at managed fishing parks.

Typical size: Commonly 60 to 100 cm; trophies over 1.2 m and 30 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 70 kg (varies by region).
