Great Barracuda fishing

Sphyraena barracuda

About Great Barracuda

A long, torpedo-shaped reef and flats predator with a mouthful of teeth, famous for lightning-fast strikes and short, blistering runs. Anglers cast tube lures, fast plugs and spoons over reefs and flats, with a quick retrieve to trigger the chase. Always use a wire trace, as its teeth cut straight through mono or braid.

Typical size: Typically 5 to 15 kg; trophy fish exceed 25 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 40 kg (varies by region).
