Golden Dorado fishing

Salminus brasiliensis

About Golden Dorado

A spectacular golden river predator of South America, all muscle and bony jaws, famous for blistering runs and wild aerial jumps. Anglers chase it with big streamers, jerkbaits and spoons in fast water, current seams and around structure. Strikes are violent and the fish jumps repeatedly, so wire or heavy fluorocarbon traces are a must.

Typical size: Typically 2 to 8 kg; trophy fish exceed 15 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 30 kg (varies by region).
