Giant Trevally fishing

Caranx ignobilis

About Giant Trevally

The brawling king of tropical inshore sport fishing, an apex reef and flat predator that ambushes bait with explosive speed. The signature method is heavy popping and stickbaiting over reefs and drop-offs, with strikes that can rip the rod from your hands. Once hooked it bolts straight for coral, so maximum drag and locked-down gear are the rule.

Typical size: Typically 10 to 30 kg; trophy fish exceed 50 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 80 kg (varies by region).
