About Galjoen
A tough, hard-pulling surf fish of rocky southern African coasts and the prized target of dedicated rock-and-surf anglers. It feeds in white water around reefs and gullies, taking redbait, worm and mussel baits fished close to the rocks. Rough, churning seas and a rising tide are when it bites best.
Typical size: Typically 1 to 3 kg; trophy fish exceed 5 kg. Record (approx.): approx. 7 kg (varies by region).
