European Eel fishing

Anguilla anguilla

About European Eel

A snake-like night feeder caught on warm summer nights. Critically endangered and protected in many waters. Check the rules for the water before you fish, because in most of Sweden the eel may not be kept at all. When it is legal, it is a still night, a worm on the bottom and a lot of patience. Handle it with wet hands, unhook it in the water where you can, and let it go.

Typical size: Usually 40-80 cm. Record (approx.): ≈ 4 kg.
