About Common Bream

A deep, slab-sided bottom fish that roots in soft beds, often in big shoals at night. A feeding shoal gives itself away with a trail of bubbles and clouded water over the flat. Sweet groundbait and a ledger or feeder rig with worm or sweetcorn suit it better than anything moving fast. The bite is slow and the run is heavy, so give it time before lifting the rod.

Typical size: Usually 30-50 cm, big over 60 cm. Record (approx.): ≈ 6 kg.
