The Brazilian sandperch, locally brótola, is an elongated, mottled bottom fish of the rocky and sandy coasts of southern South America, lurking among reef edges, kelp and broken ground. Anglers catch it from rocks, piers and boats on baited bottom rigs using fish strips, squid, prawn and worms fished close to structure. It is a willing, hard-biting bottom species and a common, tasty catch for shore and light-boat anglers along the Uruguayan and Argentine coast.
