About Boga
The boga is a strong, silvery characin of the Uruguay and Paraná river systems in South America, a powerful runner often found in fast water around rapids, rocky bars and current edges. Anglers catch it on the bottom and in the flow with worms, dough, fruit and bits of fish, and it readily takes baits drifted through productive runs. It fights well above its size with stubborn, surging runs, which makes it a favourite light-tackle river quarry alongside the better-known dorado.
Typical size: Usually 1-3 kg; trophies over 5 kg, to about 55 cm. Record (approx.): approx. 6 kg (varies by region).
