About Bluefish
The bluefish is a fast, voracious schooling predator of warm temperate coasts, famous for tearing into baitfish in violent feeding frenzies that churn the surface white. Anglers chase the blitzes from beach, rock and boat with metal lures, poppers, plugs and cut bait, often using wire traces because of its razor-sharp teeth. It hits savagely, runs hard and is one of the most aggressive light-tackle inshore species, capable of biting through line and even fingers if handled carelessly.
Typical size: Usually 1-4 kg; trophies over 8 kg, to about 1.1 m. Record (approx.): approx. 12 kg (varies by region).
