About Barramundi
The barramundi is a prized silver-flanked sportfish of tropical estuaries, rivers and impoundments across Australia and South and Southeast Asia, moving freely between fresh and salt water. Anglers cast hardbodies, soft plastics, vibes and surface lures to snags, drains, rock bars and structure, working tides and warm water for the best feeding. It strikes hard, makes powerful runs and gill-rattling jumps, and combined with its superb table quality this makes it one of the most popular tropical targets.
Typical size: Usually 2-8 kg; trophies over 20 kg, to about 1.5 m. Record (approx.): approx. 25 kg (varies by region).
