About Asp

The predator among the cyprinids, hunting baitfish at the surface in visible boils. Rapids, weir tails and river mouths in late spring hold the fish, and the hunt gives its position away with a splash you can see from a distance. Cast a slim surface lure or a fast shallow runner past the boil and keep it moving. Asp is protected in parts of Sweden during the spring spawning, so check the rules for the water.

Typical size: Usually 50-75 cm. Record (approx.): ≈ 5 kg.
