Arctic Char fishing
About Arctic Char
A cold-loving mountain fish of clear northern lakes, often deep and in shoals. Through summer it stays down where the water is coldest, and it comes onto shallow stony ground to spawn in autumn, which is when it is easiest to reach from the bank. Small spoons and light flies suit its diet of insects and small fish. Winter fishing through the ice on a small jig is a tradition of its own in Lapland.
Typical size: Usually 30-50 cm. Record (approx.): ≈ 10 kg.
