About Napp

Napp shows the nearest fishing spots, the live conditions that matter to anglers, and which fish are most likely to be biting right now, wherever you are. Open it, let it find your location, and scroll the list. Tap a spot for the hourly forecast, the full ranked species list, the best times to fish today, permit info, and map links. It covers Sweden and the United States today, and more of the world is being added. No account, no sign-up, no paywall. It works in Swedish, English, Norwegian and Finnish, in kilometres or miles, and you can save your favourite spots.

How the ranking works

Each species has a profile: which waters it lives in, its latitude range, its season, its feeding times, and its preferred temperature and weather. We score every species present at a spot from those factors against the live conditions, then rank them and show a likelihood (High, Medium, Low). It is a transparent rule of thumb, not a guarantee, and there is no machine learning or hidden model.

Where the data comes from

• Live weather: MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (free, open data).
• Water temperature: an estimate from the weather and season, shown clearly as an estimate (there is no live water-temperature feed).
• Spots and species: a curated database of waters and fish, currently covering Sweden and the United States and growing.
• About each water: Wikipedia.
• Fish photos: Wikimedia Commons.
• Maps: Google Maps links (view and directions).

Napp uses no API keys or logins of any kind. Your approximate country (from Cloudflare) only sets the starting language and units; nothing about you is tracked or stored.

Permits and rules

In Sweden, rod-and-line fishing is free along the entire coast and in the five big lakes Vänern, Vättern, Mälaren, Hjälmaren and Storsjön; almost everywhere else you need a fishing permit (fiskekort). In the USA, a state fishing license is required and the rules are set by each state. Each spot page tells you which case applies and links to where to get it. Always check local rules and closed seasons before you fish.
